Hello world!

This is Leanne Lasky and this is my first blog post … not my first blog post EVER, but the first one out here and the first since starting on my internet marketing journey.  So.. I figure that I’ll begin at the begining… a very good place to start (nod to Julie Andrews).

I’ll skip the part about where I grew up and fast forward to 1996, NYC.  I was working at a major medical center in the City in a post graduate fellowship and I discovered something … I had been working since I was 15 and I HATED IT! I mean, it was not the work I hated, I just got so bored so fast and there was never enough money or satisfaction in what I was doing to keep me happy for very long. Plus I usually came to despise my bosses and coworkers for either not doing their share of the work OR for not recognizing who actually WAS doing the work.  I always felt confused by good reviews and annoyed that they really didn’t mean much in terms of raises or promotions.  So.. I began my journey to find a way to work for myself.

In 1996 there was not the vast array of opportunities bombarding us like today. So the first thing I found was that good old standby… AMWAY.  Now I’m not here to knock Amway or even network marketing – in fact I am still a big fan of network marketing and still have my hand in the industry today (although no longer with Amway or a host of other NM businesses that I have started and stopped along the way).  Suffice to say that, between 1996 and 2005… I moved from Hospital Administration to Healthcare Consulting, to IT Consulting, to Corporate IT… and then to BURN OUT.

In 1998 I met my husband, in 2001 we had our first and only child and in 2004 I found real estate!  Okay.. I know what it sounds like but I told you, I get bored easily – real estate offered a whole new world of opportunity – unrelated to anything I had ever studied or tried – it was like finding a gold mine! I was licensed in July of ’04 and quit my corporate career (and the corporate world) FOREVER in January 2005! Unfortunately, the timing could not have been better – yes, I meant to say that.  The timing was perfect because I was suddenly faced with two very sick parents both of whom I ultimately lost (Dad in August ’05 and Mom and December ’05).  Becuase I was able to quit my J.O.B… I was able to spend an amazing amount of high quality time with both of them in the months prior – a lot of it was taking care of things for them but nonetheless, I could never have done it if I was still an employee.

By 2007 boredom set in with regular real estate so I founded a compay with two partners and learned to be a mortgage loan officer – talk about bad timing! By August of 2007 the Mortgage meltdown was in full force and our company closed it’s doors. In January 2008, I started another real estate based company with two partners that was poised to take advantage of the housing crisis – we negotiated short sales.  TOUGH WORK and by September I was BURNED OUT. BUT in February of 2007 I had attended my very first ever training on Internet Marketing -Armand Morin‘s Internet Marketing Explained – I WAS HOOKED!  But.. didn’t do anything with it because I was so busy WORKING…

Now I don’t  mind hard work, but I want to do what I like, I want to control what I am doing, and I want create … but the kind of work my new company had me doing was not any of those things so I gave my part of the company to the partners and wished them well (they are doing just fine, in case you are wondering).  I started my current, and what will be my LAST, real estate company in October/November of 2008 – I now have one partner, we have a really good working model and I enjoy what we do but the Internet Marketing and Network Marketing Bugs never go away for me so…..

I found a coaching program offered by a great guy, Jason Dinner. Jason’s course started from the basics and even though I had that down already, I followed right along, step by step, video by video, resource by resource and before I knew it I had built a squeeze page, had google analytics hooked up and had a list being built!  Then came an endorsement from Jason for Alex Jeffreys and his coaching program. I was hesitant to go off on another program but when I saw what Alex was offering and how it would allow me to build on the skills I learned from Jason, I was convinced to take that step.  Today, we are five weeks in and the program is everything Alex promised it would be and far more!

So… that’s where we are now… week 5 and building and I’m having the time of my life!!  And now, I’m off – it’s 110 degrees out and time for a swim!

Speak to you soon!

Peace~

Leanne

  • Hi Leanne,

    Phew!
    You are busy lady indeed!
It’s nice to see you here with what is nice clean, clear blog.
I look forward to your future posts.

    Dave (another AJ student)

  • Hi Leanne,

I migrated here from one of your blog comments and it’s great to see a blog from another student of Alex Jeffreys, as I am a student of Alex’ too.

Your blog is coming along wonderfully, with a nice look and feel and some really great content. It was also interesting to learn that you were in other programs from some top internet marketers, as next year, I may do that as well.

Moving forward, I would also love to learn as much as I can about blogging and internet marketing too.

    Take care,
    Karen
